Bride and groom portraits at night time with string lights at Russets Country House venue in Chiddingfold

This wedding was SO much fun. And seriously organised. From when I first met Rupal and she explained that on their first date Ed ‘had me at sci-fi’, to their seven-tabbed wedding Excel spreadsheet (with a separate one for me) I have been both highly amused and in awe of them.

Rupal and Ed met through work and have been together for seven years, bound by a love of sci-fi – and Excel ;), obviously. They chose the very charming, Russets Country House, which is very local for me and Kate and Tim who own it, are lovely. But the day for me started at The Swan, a nearby pub in Chiddingfold where Rupal and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Here I also bumped into Kerry, Rupal’s makeup artist for the day, whom it’s always nice to cross paths with. Then it was off to Russets to capture Ed and his groomsmen, where I also got to witness them practicing their speeches all in high spirits. See – what did I tell you? Organised! And fun!

The wedding party arrived one by one, some more slowly than others, frustrated by traffic, which meant a small delay to the start of the ceremony, but my goodness, the wait was worth it when the supremely regal Rupal, stepped forth and literally took everyone’s breath away. Words can’t convey how incredible she looked.

The whole wedding party together, the purple bridesmaids’ dresses sang with the purple pocket squares of the groomsmens’ suits, accented by the floristry and the cakes – such thoughtful details that came together brilliantly with a lightness of touch, without ever being twee. Confetti and group shots followed, before the newly Mr & Mrs cut the cake and we all tucked into the wedding breakfast (which was amazing btw, and I even got a three-course meal too – thanks!).

Ever thoughtful to all of their guests, Rupal and Ed had placed some great games on the lawn which the younger guests enjoyed throughout the day – and, actually, quite a few adults.

I can’t blog this wedding without mentioning Gerard, the best man, who absolutely smashed his speech and had everyone roaring with laughter at his sci-fi slights – and who somehow managed to smuggle in a life-sized Captain America with Ed’s face plastered to it, which also (obviously) made it on to the dancefloor later in the evening. Speaking of which, the first dance was beautifully choreographed to John Legend’s All Of Me.

So from spreadsheets to superheroes, this wedding really did have it all. Congratulations Rupal and Ed, I hope you had a fantastic mini-moon and thank you so much for making me a part of your day.
