Anna and Joe have been engaged since August last year and keeping up a family tradition, selected their wedding day to be as close to the wedding anniversaries of parents and grandparents. A couple enshrouded by the love of family and friends I was struck by their incredible network of loved ones who threw themselves into the wedding with gusto – not just to celebrate but to help with the makeup, hair, entertainment and the videography. It was lovely to be a part of such spirited collaboration.
Anna, is a photographer (two things we have in common!), and so I was extremely honoured that she chose me to shoot her day.
To get maximum coverage and capture all the action I instructed a second photographer, Gosia Grant. Whilst I started the day capturing all the bridal party celebrations at Anna’s sister’s wonderfully inspired vintage home, Gosia was busy shooting the guys at the apartment Anna and Joe share. Joe’s funky getup and Anna’s beautiful antique lace dress instilled a wonderfully unique vibe to the happy couple.
Anna arrived to the ceremony (at Marygreen Manor in Brentwood) in a classic car chauffeured by her very own Dad, after which the day’s events ensued swimmingly. A real highlight was Anna and Joe’s clear emotion at a special performance (rehearsed all in secret) from one of Joe’s music college friends, Lisa and her band Black Cherry Pop Tart. The song, As You Wish, written for and about them, had every one reaching for a tissue. The band then ramped it up, belting out the greats and everyone hit the dancefloor. P-A-R-T-Y C-E-N-T-R-A-L!
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Mathurine. A truly inspirational day!
