Natasha and Rob at Oaks Farm

A first trip to Oaks Farm, the venue for Natasha and Rob’s ceremony and reception, a short drive east of Croydon and still remarkably rural. Natasha and Rob had met me at a couple of other weddings I had photographed so it was nice to be able to focus on them as bride and groom. For an October wedding it was a perfect autumnal day – blue skies, great light, lots of greens, golds and bronzes in the gardens making for pretty backdrops. Natasha and Rob booked me from midday until 7pm – so I covered preparations, the ceremony, wedding breakfast and speeches making for a lack of incriminating drink-fuelled dance floor photographs! Hmmm, I wonder if that was intentional?!

Natasha was given away beautifully by her mother, who had also made the stunning FOUR-tier wedding cake and the favours. What a woman. There was a lot of mutual mother-daughter appreciation, which was beautiful to watch. Rob’s Mum, Annette, was also a Wonder Woman who along with family friend Colleen (and Rob’s little bro Simon no less) made the bouquets and buttonholes which set off the bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. Truly, it was a family and friends collaboration. During the speeches, a group of friends had made a personalised wedding video for Natasha and Rob. It was very funny (and heart warming) as they dished out some great advice and messages of love. I thought it was a lovely idea. They also had a caricaturist, Soozi from 1st Choice Entertainment, which was pretty novel.

As with all my weddings, I took my couple out for portraits before the wedding breakfast and then again afterwards to get a very different look to the photographs. I particularly liked my second session with these guys, playing with fairy lights in the grounds. Natasha and Rob have known each other for five years – they met at work. From the speeches it was clear that Rob was completely bowled over by her from the moment she walked in and did everything in his power to get her to go out with him. I captured them entering their first dance (spun out by DJ Mike Fisher from Spotlight Entertainment) – Natasha like a red carpet diva, Rob very humble (and resigned!) to the fact the he was being completely outdone, and left them dancing under confetti cannons with lots of laughter and happiness.

Congratulations Natasha & Rob!
